In Dallas County, children in foster care outpace the number of homes available for placement by nearly two-to-one. With more than 2,000 children waiting for the courts to decide where they should live on any given day, most of them are regularly placed outside of Dallas County.
Such placement limitations make it difficult for volunteers and supervisors to do home visits and check on their clients.
To ease travel burdens on staff and volunteers alike, Dallas CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) has partnered with Angel Flight South Central. CASA works with children in the Dallas County foster care and court systems, and Angel Flight is a nonprofit that provides air travel for humanitarian missions. The partnership is a win/win for both organizations.
